Infographic: The 5 Best Cities to Travel to Using Your Aeroplan Miles

If there’s one thing that Ratehub.ca recommends when it comes to redeeming your Aeroplan Miles, it’s to do so only when you’re getting good value out of them. The way to determine whether or not a particular reward provides good value is to compare the value per mile of that reward to a benchmark (average) dollar value. You might be wondering how you’ll ever come up with such a number, or where to begin. Well, the good news is you don’t need to—we’ve already done all that work for you! Here, we’ll give you the average value of an Aeroplan Mile as well as a snapshot of the five best cities in the world to travel to from Toronto using your hard-earned miles.

When it comes to redeeming your Aeroplan Miles, the golden rule is as follows: only redeem your miles for rewards that are equal to or greater than the average benchmark value. In other words, if the dollar value per mile provided by a particular reward is lower than the benchmark, then you’re better off paying for that reward with cash and saving your miles for something else in the future.

The cities we chose represent the five regions in the world that get you the most value out of your miles when redeeming a round-trip fixed mileage flight from Toronto Pearson International Airport in economy class. Here’s a brief snapshot of each city, its corresponding region, the number of miles needed to get there, and the average value of a mile for a flight there:
