Travel rewards credit cards are great for many reasons. They offer numerous benefits that may include rewards for the money you spend, insurance benefits, exclusive offers, and additional perks just for signing up or having the card. One of these perks might be an anniversary offer.
An anniversary offer is a perk you’ll get on a yearly basis. What you’ll receive will vary based on what rewards program you have and what card you choose. Here’s a look at our favourite credit cards that feature an anniversary offer:
BMO Rewards travel cards
The BMO Rewards program provides exclusive access to VIP airport lounges worldwide. The anniversary offer includes two or four (depending on your card) complementary passes per year. This offer has incredible value. The membership is valued at US$99 per year and each pass is worth US$27 per person per visit.
Starwood Preferred Guest Rewards
The Starwood Preferred Guest Rewards program is very popular. There are two anniversary offers that are exclusive to the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card from American Express. When you spend $30,000 in a year, you’ll you’ll receive Starwood Gold Preferred Guest status. After reaching Preferred Gold Guest status, you’ll earn a 50% bonus over preferred on all eligible stays, late check out, upgrades at check in, welcome gifts, complementary premium internet access, and much more. And when you spend $40,000 in a year, you’ll receive a free weekend away in a Category 1 to 4 hotel. This card is ideal for an avid traveler who’ll be using their credit card frequently.
The Marriott Rewards program grants you access to exclusive offers with Marriott chain hotels. The card has one of the best hotel rewards anniversary offers: A free one-night stay in a Category 1 to 5 hotel. You’ll receive this after your first year and every year thereafter with the Marriott Rewards credit card. One free night just for having the card! You’ll also receive a free night stay in a Category 1 to 4 hotel after you’ve been approved for the card. While not striktly related to anniversary bonuses but worth calling out nonetheless, the Marriott Rewards Premier is also one of the only credit cards in Canada with no foreign transaction fees. Update: This card is no longer accepting applications.
