November marks the beginning of the spend-heavy holiday season, with Black Friday (Nov. 24) and Cyber Monday (Nov. 27) kickstarting a whirlwind shopping sprint.

It’s also one of the best times of year for credit card offers (waived annual fees, welcome bonuses, and gift cards) as issuers up the ante to compete for your business. Here, we’ve rounded up some of the credit card offers available to Canadians as of November:

Card details

  • Annual fee: $99 (waived for first year)
  • Earn 25,000 bonus points when you spend $1,000 within the first three months ($250 value)
  • Earn 4 Scotia Rewards points per dollar on gas, groceries, entertainment, and restaurants; earn 1 point per dollar on all other purchases
  • Access to Priority Pass airport lounges worldwide
  • Complimentary concierge services

OFFER: Earn 25,000 bonus points when you spend $1,000 within first three months with the Scotiabank Gold American Express card. As well, the annual fee of $99 is waived for the first year. Both offers are valid until Feb. 28, 2018.

  • Annual fee: $120 (charged at $10 monthly)
  • Earn up to 40,000 Membership Rewards bonus points in your first year ($400 value)
  • Earn 5 points per dollar on restaurants, coffee shops, bars, grocery stores, and food delivery
  • Earn 2 points per dollar on gas, taxis, public transportation and travel (air, water, rail, or road transport, plus hotels)
  • Earn 1 point per dollar on all other purchases

OFFER: The brand new American Express Cobalt Card offers a welcome bonus of 10,000 membership rewards when you spend $3,000 in your first three months. It also has a rolling bonus structure, giving you 2,500 Membership Rewards points per month when you spend $500 within each monthly billing period.

  • Annual fee: $99 (waived for first year)
  • Earn 5% cash back on everyday purchases (up to $3,000) for the first 3 months
  • Earn 4% cash back on gas and groceries, 2% back on drugstore purchases and recurring bill payments, and 1% cash back on all other purchases

OFFER: Until Feb. 28, 2018, the $99 annual fee is waived for the first year. The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite is one of the best cash-back credit cards in Canada, with a welcome offer of 5% cash back on purchases (up to $3,000) for the first three months.

  • No annual fee
  • Earn 2% cash back on purchases in up to three categories of your choice, and 0.5% cash back on everything else
  • No limit on how much cash back you can earn

OFFER: Until Nov. 30, get a $25 gift card for Amazon, Indigo, or Cineplex from Ratehub.ca when you’re approved for the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card.

  • 2% back in travel rewards on all purchases

OFFER: The SimplyCash Card from American Express has no annual fee and has a welcome bonus of 2.5% cash back on gas, groceries, restaurants for the first three months (up to $150).
