MasterCard is the second most popular credit card in Canada. There are three types of MasterCard credit cards to choose from: World Elite, World, and standard cards.
In our opinion, these are the best credit card options from MasterCard:
BMO World Elite MasterCard
- $150 annual fee
- Earn two points per $1 spent
- Receive a welcome bonus of 30,000 points (a $300 value)
The BMO World Elite MasterCard is an excellent travel rewards credit card. You’ll earn two points for every $1 you spend on all purchases. You’ll also receive a welcome bonus of 30,000 (a $300 value) once you’ve been approved for the card. You can redeem the points you earn for travel expenses including flights, hotels, cruises, and vacation packages. And points can be used to pay for any applicable taxes. Since this is a World Elite card, it comes with excellent travel insurance coverage.
Tangerine Money-Back MasterCard
- No annual fee
- Earn 2% cash back in your selected categories (10 to choose from)
- Earn 0.5% cash back on all other purchases
If you’re looking for a cash-back card with no annual fee, the Tangerine Money-Back MasterCard might just be the perfect card. With this card, you’ll earn 2% cash back in two selected spending categories (there are 10 to choose from), and 0.5% on all other purchases. This is an excellent cash-back card because there’s no annual fee. If you opt to have your cash back rewards deposited into a Tangerine Savings Account, you’ll get a third category earning 2% cash back.
MBNA Rewards World Elite MasterCard
- $89 annual fee (waived for the first year on account)
- Earn two points for every $1 spent on all purchases
- Receive 10,000 bonus points (a $100 value) after your first purchase
If you can decide between a travel rewards card and a cash-back credit card, MBNA has a solution. The MBNA Rewards World Elite MasterCard allows you to redeem your points for travel expenses, cash back, merchandise, or gift cards. You’ll earn points at a rate of two points per $1 spent on the card. There’s no restriction on the number of points you can earn and your points don’t expire as long as you keep your account open. This card has a relatively low annual fee of $89 and it also comes with travel insurance.
