TransUnion
TransUnion Canada is one of the two major credit bureaus in the country. The Burlington, Ont.-based company is the Canadian subsidiary of TransUnion. TransUnion calls its free credit report a “consumer disclosure.”
You can order a free copy of your consumer disclosure by submitting a request form via mail, fax or telephone, with two photocopies of identification and proof of address. You can also access your TransUnion credit report instantly online, for free, once a year. If you don’t want to wait for your free report to arrive via snail mail, TransUnion charges $14.95 for instant online access to your credit report, which is available for 30 days after purchase. Your free TransUnion report, however, will not include your credit score. You’ll have to pay a fee to obtain it.
There are two ways to get your TransUnion credit score: A one-time purchase or through a credit monitoring subscription package. For $22.90, you can instantly access your TransUnion credit report—which includes your TransUnion credit score—online for up to 30 days after purchase.
You can also access your TransUnion credit report and score online through its subscription-based credit monitoring service, which costs $16.95/month and can be cancelled at any time. The service includes email updates of critical changes to your report, personalized debt analysis, and access to TransUnion’s credit score simulator, which assesses how a variety of future scenarios and actions could raise or lower your score down the road.
