A guide to BMO chequing accounts
Looking for a chequing account and can’t decide which one to get? Bank of Montreal (BMO) offers a variety of accounts with different features.
The fees for BMO chequing accounts vary between $4 and $30.95 a month. If you have the required minimum balance in your account, you can get the monthly fee waived for all of the accounts except for the AIR MILES Chequing Account.
For the Practical Chequing Account, seniors – those aged 60 and older – will have their monthly fee waived, while students and recent graduates enjoy a waived monthly fee on the Plus Chequing Account. However, these groups of customers aren’t restricted to using only specific accounts: students, recent graduates, and seniors receive a discount on the monthly fee for most other BMO chequing accounts, too.
There are also discounts available on the monthly fee for children and teens, newcomers to Canada, beneficiaries of a registered disability savings plan (RDSP), and members of Canada’s defence community (for example, Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP members, Department of National Defence staff) and their families.
BMO AIR MILES Chequing Account
The AIR MILES Chequing Account is a unique offering from BMO as it allows you to earn Air Miles in a number of different ways. You’ll also get 25 bonus miles each month when you also have a BMO Air Miles World Mastercard or a BMO Air Miles World Elite Mastercard.
BMO chequing account offers
BMO often runs attractive chequing offers, with cash bonuses of up to $700. You may also get a promotional interest rate when you open a BMO savings account and link it with your chequing account.
