Totally not worth the hassle!! I started rate shopping months before my renewal. The rate I was offered with Canwise was slightly lower than my current lender and I signed some paperwork for what I thought was a rate hold only. I was notified that I was approved and I hadn’t even realized that I’d actually applied for anything. At that point the damage was done and against my better judgement, I decided to proceed to get the lower rate. Weeks later I’d heard nothing and was surprised to get an email for my current lender following up on my renewal offer. I reached out to my broker and was informed it was all done and had been sent to FCT for settling. Uhh, thanks for keeping me in the loop!? I never received anything else until 6 days prior to the end of my term. I had questions about the transfer amount and I could not get ahold of my broker for the life of me. I called and emailed over several days and got no reply. At this point I’d had enough and decided to look into alternate routes to cancel the whole transaction. Only after reaching out to FCT in a panic to cancel everything myself, did she finally respond with “Ive let FCT and Canwise know you wish to cancel”. Uhh no, I actually did that myself.
