If you’re a points guru like me, you’re familiar with the best credit cards rewards programs, and maybe you’ve used Ratehub.ca’s credit card comparison tool to evaluate the best dollar value return for your spending.
An added bonus comes when you can collect loyalty points on top of your credit card spending. Examples of this would be when you collect Optimum points at Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix or Air Miles at Shell.
I’m embarrassed given by guru status that it took me this long to discover Ebates.ca. The site allows you to earn cash back multiples of 1% to 10% (yes, 10%!) from online retailers you might already be buying from. Ebates.ca has partnered with almost every retailer that serves Canada, from Amazon.ca to Sephora (guess which items were free in the photo above) to Nike (currently the brand at 10% cash back), totalling more than 650 stores.
How does it work?
Simply begin any online shopping by visiting the Ebates.ca site first and click “shop now” to be taken to any store’s website. Shop as you normally would and Ebates.ca will track your purchase and deposit the cash back you’ve earned into your Ebates account within a few days.
Furthermore, the site also lists the coupons, deals, and promo codes available for its partner retailers. Recently, I made a purchase on Asos.com (a great site for frugal fashionistas) and earned 2.5% cash back (the Ebates.ca cash back offer) plus $30 off my $150 purchase (an Asos.com promo code listed on Ebates.ca).
How is my cash back paid out?
Every three months, Ebates sends you a payment for purchases made during the previous quarter. If you’ve earned less than $5.01 cash back, your payment will be carried over to the next quarter.
You can receive your money via cheque or PayPal. Or if you’re feeling particularly generous, you can also opt to direct your payments to a charity, organization, or family member.
What’s in it for them?
Ebates earns a commission from the stores you make a purchase from. They share this commission with you.
How do I sign up? (And get $10!)
Use this link to sign up and get $10 credited to your account.
Now go forth, fellow points gurus, and earn away! Don’t come back until you’ve earned double, triple, or quadruple the points!
