How Much Are These Credit Card Benefits Worth: Lounge Access, Concert Tickets, Holiday Boutique

To woo customers, credit cards these days are packed with perks, whether it’s travel insurance or extended warranty. But some of the perks they offer can seem dull to customers. Insurance doesn’t excite people when choosing credit cards since they don’t want to think about bad situations where they might need it.

With so many options to choose from, besides offering rewards programs, credit cards are looking for exclusive opportunities to encourage loyalty among their customers. Creating a positive experience is one perk many credit cards are aiming for, but when it comes to choosing a credit card, customers should consider the value of each perk.

We’ve done the heavy lifting for you and we take a look at what some of these perks are worth.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Access

Value: $375 to $665

Some credit cards let you avoid the airport’s hustle and bustle with free access to the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in airports around the world. If you’re a frequent flier, this is the perfect place to unwind before a flight in its cell-free quiet zone and enjoy a snack, thanks to the lounge’s complimentary food and beverages.
Front-of-Line

Value: $37 to $136 per person*

If you’re a major music fan and a frequent concert goer, you’ll want to have an American Express credit card since it gives you the chance to get tickets to must-see musicians with the card’s Front of the Line Advance Access and Front of the Line Reserved Tickets. Many American Express credit cards offer this perk including the SimplyCash Card from American Express and the American Express Air Miles Credit Card. This perk saves you money since you get first pick when it comes to buying concert tickets, which means if there’s a band or performer you really want to see, you aren’t stuck paying a premium to ticket resellers.

Avion Holiday Boutique

Value: ($10 to wrap one gift x 10 gifts) + $5 beverage + $5 snack = $110/per person

The Avion Holiday Boutique takes some of the stress out of holiday shopping. Canadians who have an RBC Visa Platinum Avion, RBC Visa Infinite Avion, and RBC Avion Infinite Privilege have access to this pop-up lounge that lets families take a break in the mall while they’re doing their holiday shopping.

Last year, some mall locations that had Holiday Boutiques include Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, the Halifax Shopping Centre, and the Coquitlam Centre in Vancouver. At the boutiques, Avion cardholders could access valet parking, coat and parcel check-ins, gift-wrapping for up to ten gifts, free coffee, tea and snacks, electronic charging stations, and free wi-fi. If you were the only one who went holiday shopping, the lounge could offer value of about $110 per person, but the more people who go shopping with you, the more value you could receive from the perk. Keep in mind, it’s hard to put a value on peace of mind during the busy holiday shopping season.
