Spring is in the air and the real estate market is ready to blossom. Cheesy imagery aside, there is no better season to be a first-time homebuyer than the spring. Not to put down the other three seasons, but spring is known for its abundance of new launches, accompanied by warm weather that gives everyone a much-needed post-winter boost.
We’ve compiled a list of the five most buzzworthy developments that are already attracting a ton of attention in Spring 2013. Enjoy!
Mid-town Toronto has its fair share of new builds, but 155 Redpath by Freed Developments and CD Capital is turning heads. Located steps from Yonge and Eglinton, the intersection will see a burst of new life. Industry experts are keenly watching the Eglinton corridor now that a Crosstown LRT is in the works. The new transit access will appeal to frequent fliers who’ll be able to get out to Pearson International Airport fast. With the Mount Pleasant Road shopping strip and a big revamp coming to the Yonge and Eglinton Centre, 155 Redpath will be right in the centre of the dynamic neighbourhood.
It might be situated in Toronto’s downtown core, but this luxury building at 25 Richmond St. E. doesn’t sacrifice outdoor space. Designed by architectsAlliance, the entire project emphasizes natural light and outdoor space. The Great Gulf tower features landscaped terraces, big city views and sunlight-friendly suites. And when it comes to getting around the city, the epic, 50-storey skyscraper is about as convenient as they come: Yonge + Rich earned an impressive walk score of 98 and a perfect 100 transit score.
While there are many attractive new home developments in the waterfront community of Southeast False Creek in Vancouver, Pinnacle International’s The One is garnering a special amount of attention. Situated at 38 West 1st Avenue between Salt and Ontario streets, The One stands at the heart of this pedestrian, pet and people-friendly community. The multi-building development is just a stone’s throw from Vancouver’s iconic seawall, meaning residents can walk, jog, bike or rollerblade from their front door to Stanley Park or Kits Beach.
Located at the heart of Surrey’s rejuvenated downtown, the micro-suites at Balance will be some of Canada’s smallest condos, and perhaps more importantly, some of Metro Vancouver’s most affordable homes. The 56-unit, four-storey development will have suites that range in size from 300-to-650 square feet, with space-saving features like foldable wall-beds.
Mark on 10th is a mixed-use high-rise tower currently under construction in Calgary’s sought-after Beltline neighbourhood. When it’s completed in 2015, the 35-storey tower will be comprised of 270 homes and will boast a massive rooftop amenity space with a gym, yoga and pilates studio, infrared sauna, outdoor hot tub, sunbathing patio, and barbecue and fire pit area. Mark on 10th will also be home to Alberta’s first and only large-scale public art installation by renowned artist and author Douglas Coupland.
