Apple Pay launched in Canada on Tuesday for certain American Express cardmembers.
The service will be available for eligible Canadian consumer, small business, and corporate cards issued by American Express. As we reported earlier this month, it won’t be available to those who have an American Express card issued by Scotiabank.
Apple Pay allows American Express cardmembers to pay in store with compatible Apple devices at participating contactless merchants, or for purchases within participating apps that accept the card. A number of stores such as Indigo, McDonald’s, Petro-Canada, and Tim Hortons accept contactless payments from American Express cards.
If you’re not an American Express cardholder and want to access Apply Pay, we recommend the following:

In your first 10 months as a new SimplyCash® Card from American Express Cardmember, you can earn a $10 statement credit for each monthly billing period in which you spend $300 in purchases on your Card. This could add up to $100 in statement credits in the first 10 months

- Earn 1.25% cash back after, and on all other purchases throughout the introductory period
- No limit to the amount of cash back you can earn, after the introductory period is over
