Hubert Surprenant

My experience with this brokerage was extremely disappointing. After deciding to proceed with another mortgage broker, I simply asked Hubert Surprenant to close my file so my new broker could move forward. Instead of respecting my decision, he refused to close the file and repeatedly demanded that I explain why I had chosen someone else. I made it clear that I did not wish to discuss my reasons, yet the pressure continued through multiple emails. Only after I asked for his supervisor's contact information did he finally agree to close the file. Later that same day, he called me and again demanded an explanation. When I declined, he yelled at me over the phone. I had to warn him twice that I would hang up if he continued speaking to me that way. No client should be treated like that simply because they chose another provider. Despite telling me my file had been closed, my new broker continued to be informed that it remained open. It took about another week—and a formal complaint to management—before the issue was finally resolved. During that time, my mortgage remained in an open term, resulting in additional interest charges and unnecessary stress. What disappointed me most was management's response. Rather than addressing the conduct I experienced, I felt my concerns were dismissed and there was little accountability. Choosing another mortgage broker is every client's right. In my experience, that decision was not respected. Based on how I was treated, I cannot recommend this brokerage. - Henri LeBlanc
