Ratehub’s review
Natasha Macmillan
The Secured Neo Mastercard offers you the opportunity to earn cash back rewards – a feature that is hard to come by for a secured card. The card includes guided credit-building tools with built-in credit-score tracking. Start with a refundable-security-funds credit limit of $50–$10,000 and be considered for a higher limit in as little as three months.
Pros
- Cash back rewards: Earn up to 15% boosted cashback at thousands of Neo partners across Canada
- Low minimum deposit requirement: The $50 minimum deposit requirement makes this card accessible for most – many other cards require at least $500
Cons
- Higher interest rate: The card’s 19.99%–29.99% interest rate is quite a bit higher than some low interest cards and other secured cards
- Cash back rewards are limited: Cashback earning is subject to a monthly spending limit. Once the limit is reached, subsequent eligible spending earns 0% until the limit resets the following month.
