In order to be a mortgage broker in Nova Scotia, the individual must file with the Office of the Registrar under the Mortgage Brokers’ Lenders’ Registration Act. The license is issued by Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations.
There are no educational requirements in the Province of Nova Scotia. However, through the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP), one may acquire an Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP) designation. It is the only proficiency standard for the Canadian Mortgage industry and although not necessary, does add additional credibility.
