The Top 5 Condos in Montreal

The following article is from our friends at BuzzBuzzHome. They provide the most complete listings of new construction homes in Canada (and have just started cataloguing construction in the US).

When Canadians think of Montreal, some of the first words that come to mind are “bilingual”, “poutine” and “The Habs”, but when we [BuzzBuzzHome] think of Montreal, the first words that come to mind are “real estate.”

Montreal’s best projects offer everything from cutting edge technical integration to restored heritage homes. With plenty of real estate in the city, it was hard to pick our favourites, but we managed to narrow our list down to five.

La Machinerie Lofts by Bourget Capital

What do the following events have in common? E.M. Forster was born; the first artificial ice rink in North America opened; La Machinerie was built.

Answer: They all happened in 1889.

We love heritage projects and we were instantly drawn to La Machinerie. It manages to effortlessly combine old and new to create homes that have individual character. And, really how many chances to you get to live in a home built two centuries ago?

Condos Lumiere by Devision and Jadco Group

Words like “avant–garde” and “global” come to mind when we see the renderings for this project. It’s got a winning combo of impressive architecture and cutting edge technology, but what really sold us on Lumiere is the amenities. There’s a pool, fitness studio, rooftop terrace, lush garden, and a central skating rink in winter. We can’t imagine anything more quintessentially “Montreal” than having a private winter skating rink!

From top right moving clockwise: Le Peterson; 400 Dowd; Icone; Lumiere

Le Peterson by Malen Capital and Benvenuto Group

We hate to sound like a broken real estate record, but sometimes a great development really does come down to “location, location, location”. Le Peterson is situated in the heart of Montreal. Steps away from McGill University and Universite du Quebec a Montreal, the 35-storey development keeps students and academics close to where they need to be. Not only that, but Benvenuto Group recently won at the Architecture and Design Pug award for 2012.

Icone by Metropolitan Parking Inc.

With a name like “Icone” this project has a lot to live up to. So, we were super impressed when our expectations were not only met but exceeded. With features like an integrated smart processor with touch screen control system and highly automated living units, this project seamlessly integrates the newest technology into its homes, creating a truly state-of-the-art living environment.

400 Dowd by Northcliff and Olymbec Group

Situated between downtown and old Montreal in The Quartier International, 400 Dowd  is all about bringing old and new together. It features modern architecture combined with a restored heritage façade. Great location and intelligently integrated design? That’s the kind of stuff that makes our real estate hearts beat a little faster.
