What did you do before you were in the mortgage business? Any odd jobs?

I was Director of Sales for a large Canadian technology company where I worked for 15 years.

I’d be ‘flying’

What first got you interested in the mortgage business and how long have you been in it?

I’ve been in the mortgage business for 3 years now. I was introduced to the business by several friends in the industry and found that I enjoyed the ability to provide real people with a service that can make a meaningful impact on their financial life.

Why do you think you’ve been able to achieve success? What do most mortgage brokers find the most challenging about starting in the business?

I’ve been able to achieve success by focussing on customer service and finding products and solutions that best meet my clients’ needs.

What’s your biggest mortgage success story. Have you been able to save a client thousands of $$$?

I view every satisfied client as a success, but in particular I have had several clients come to me believing that, for various reasons, that they would not be able to buy a home given their credit and income. They were pleasantly surprised to see with some good advice and a little bit of work, I could help them realize their dream despite the concerns.

What’s your personal mortgage product? If you are living with a partner, how did you decide? Was it a battle?

I have a variable rate mortgage at Prime minus 0.70%. It was just too good a deal to pass up given the low Prime rates we have seen for the last few years.

Someone that is not focussed on interest rate at the expense of every other
